Prue Barrett

Chef d’Equipe for the Australian Eventing Team • Competed in the 1994 World Equestrian Games and finished in the top 10

Prue is Equestrian Australia’s National Performance Director for Eventing and has held this position since 2011. Prue led the Australian Eventing Team to win the 2016 Aachen CHIO Nations Cup and a Team Bronze Medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Another Australian addition to our coaching lineup, Prue Barrett grew up in a horsey family in Bundaberg, Queensland. She started riding before she could even walk, thanks to her horse-loving mother, Jennifer. Making her way up the ranks of eventing, Prue won several CCI3* competitions and competed in the 1994 World Equestrian Games in The Hague on Navarone, where she finished inside the top 10 individually. Prue was a strong contender for the Sydney 2000 Olympics until her horse obtained an unfortunate injury too close to competition time.

Always having had a particular passion for coaching, Prue is an Equestrian Australia NCAS Level 2 Coach, as well as an Australian Sports Commission (ASC) Scholarship Coach, and was the Chef d’Equipe for the Australian Eventing Team at the 2012 London Olympic Games and 2014 FEI World Equestrian Games in Normandy. Alongside her busy competition career, Prue completed her Masters in Coach Education and has also served as Equestrian Australia’s National Performance Director for Eventing since 2011. Prue led the Australian Eventing Team to win the 2016 Aachen CHIO Nations Cup and a Team Bronze Medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
