Lauren Sprieser
High-Performance Grand Prix dressage rider and trainer • USDF Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medalist with Distinction
Lauren is a High-Performance Grand Prix dressage rider and trainer and has produced eight horses from the beginning of their careers to Grand Prix. She is a USDF Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medalist with Distinction. Lauren frequently writes for The Chronicle of the Horse and other publications.
When a fateful family bike ride with her parents led to the discovery of a neighborhood stable, Lauren Sprieser was instantly hooked on horses. Once she was signed up for lessons, there was no turning back, and in less than eight years' time, Lauren was representing the USA on the world stage at her first international competition. While attending college, Lauren became a student of Lendon Gray, competing three times at the North American Young Rider Championships, earning Team Bronze in 2003, and Team Gold in 2005. She was also successful in the U25 ranks, qualifying three horses for the National Championships, including one made completely from scratch, all before her 25th birthday.
After graduating from Sarah Lawrence College with studies in Public Policy and Urban Planning, Lauren spent a year as a working student for several exceptional trainers, including Olympic Bronze Medalist Carol Lavell, before setting up her own business in Marshall, Virginia, in 2007.
Lauren quickly established herself as a top trainer of riders from green to Grand Prix across several disciplines, with students ranging from local walk-trot champions to CDI Grand Prix. She has also become well-known for producing FEI horses, as well as helping her students to make their own: Lauren and her students have produced (so far) 9 Grand Prix horses and 17 Prix St. Georges horses, as well as 22 USDF Bronze, 14 Silver, and 3 Gold Medalists, many with Distinction.
These days, Lauren is a High-Performance Grand Prix dressage rider and trainer and USDF Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medalist with Distinction. Known for her humor, honesty, and talent, Lauren is one of our most popular Ride iQ coaches for riders of all levels!
