Meaghan Marinovich Burdick
4* event rider • NAYRC team gold medalist • Studied equine sports science at Hartpury College, UK • USEA Area IV Young Rider Coordinator and Chef d'Equipe
Meaghan is 4* event rider who has produced multiple horses to the upper levels in the US and UK. She earned team gold at the North American Youth Championships and has coached countless clients since.
Like so many of us, Meaghan was bitten by the horse bug at an early age. She started out riding at two barns - one hunter/jumper and one eventing - in order to take more than one lesson a week, but it soon became apparent to Meaghan that eventing would be her sport of choice. In her home state of Minnesota, she took her first event horse through Training level before becoming a working student on Martha’s Vineyard with Tracey Amaral. It was here that she was set on the path to Young Riders, which eventually led her to Ocala, where Meaghan spent time riding with Olympian Darren Chiacchia. She purchased the Trakehner stallion Ahlerich, who Darren rode through the CCI4* level, a horse that would take Meaghan to team gold for Area IV in the CCI2* at the 2006 Young Rider Championships.
When Meaghan went off to college, she opted to head overseas to study equine sports science at Hartpury College and further her dream of riding professionally. Ahlerich came with her, and together they rode with the elite squad at the Hartpury Equine Academy, moving up to the Advanced level. After earning her degree from Hartpury, Meaghan made the choice to return to the US in 2014 and establish her business, Marinovich Eventing.
Through her education and experience in the UK and in the US, Meaghan has honed a coaching style that is sympathetic and inspires confidence in her students. Meagan also works as the USEA Area IV Young Rider Coordinator, in charge of organizing, promoting, and encouraging the progression of elite young riders, also serving as the Chef d'Equipe for the Area IV team.
Known for being a fun, enthusiastic, and well-rounded coach, Meghan also has some particularly popular Hack Chats that address some of the sport’s biggest mental health topics.
